Cut-and-fold activity cards for a boredom jar. When they say they are bored, they pull one.

What is on it

Cut-and-fold activity cards, eleven pages of them, each one a single thing a toddler or preschooler can start without much setup. Each one folds once and stands up in a jar.

What you get

  • 11 pages, US Letter
  • PDF, print and write on it
  • ink-friendly, so it will not drain a cartridge
  • direct download, no email address required

How to use it

Cut along the lines, fold, and drop them in a jar on the counter. When someone announces they are bored, they pull a card instead of asking you to solve it.

The full write-up that goes with this one is 50 easy activities for 2-year-olds (at home, indoor & low-prep).

How to set up your boredom buster cards

Print the pages on cardstock if you can, so the cards stand up after folding. Cut along the lines, fold each card once, and drop them all in a big jar or a clean coffee can. Pull out any card that needs supplies you don’t have this week, and add it back later.

Set one simple rule: you pull a card, you try it for five minutes. Kids who get one free swap tend to accept the second one. Boredom buster cards work best when a grown-up stays nearby for the first minute to get things started, then steps back.
