This free Christmas tree template printable gives you six pages of tree outlines to cut, trace, color and decorate. Print it on US Letter paper or cardstock, no email needed.
What’s in the Christmas tree template
- Large Christmas tree outline: one tree that fills the page, for a door decoration or a big coloring page.
- Two medium trees: about 4.5 inches tall, for crafts and felt trees.
- Six small trees: sized for Christmas cards, paper ornaments and gift tags.
- A tree to decorate: color the ornaments on the tree, or color and cut out eight ornaments and glue them on.
- Simple trees and stars: thick lines and easy triangle shapes for first cutting practice.
Ways to use a printable Christmas tree outline
Trace the Christmas tree outline onto green felt or cardstock and cut it out. Color it with crayons, markers or paint. Glue on buttons, sequins or torn tissue paper, but only with kids old enough not to put small pieces in their mouths. For a countdown, hang the large tree on a door and let kids add one paper ornament each day of December.
The small trees make quick homemade cards: fold a sheet of cardstock in half, glue a colored tree on the front and write a note inside. Punch a hole in the top of a small tree and it becomes a gift tag.
Which Christmas tree template size to use
Use the large tree for door decorations and group projects, where several kids glue ornaments on one tree. The medium trees suit a felt tree for one child or a two-layer card. The small trees work for cards, gift tags and paper garlands: cut out ten, punch a hole in each and thread them onto string.
Printing tips
Print at 100% (actual size). Cardstock holds up better for tracing and hanging. For a bigger wall tree, a print shop can print page 2 on 11 x 17 paper.
