SaveThe Christmas activity pages, page by page
Each page is one activity, so you can print only the ones that fit your child. Page 1 has an age guide and the answer key.
I spy and count (page 2)
Trees, stars, gifts, bells and candy canes are scattered across the page. Kids find each one, count them and write the number in the box. Pre-writers can say the number or hold up fingers. It is the I spy Christmas page younger kids ask for again.
Christmas maze (page 3)
Help the gift find its way to the tree. The maze has wide paths for crayons and a clear start and finish. Most 5-year-olds can do it alone; 4-year-olds like a grown-up finger pointing the way.
SaveDot-to-dot tree (page 4)
Join the dots from 1 to 20 to reveal a Christmas tree, then add a star and color it in. Counting to 20 plus a picture that appears is a big win for 5- and 6-year-olds.
Count and write (page 5)
Rows of ornaments, candy canes, stars, bells and snowmen to count, with a box to write each number. The counts stay between 2 and 6, so it works for preschoolers who are just starting.
SaveFinish the pattern (page 6)
Star, tree, star, tree, what comes next? Five rows of AB, AAB and ABC patterns, with two empty boxes to draw the next pictures. Drawing a star or a circle counts; it doesn’t need to be neat.
Match the pictures (page 7)
Draw a line between the two pictures that are the same: tree, gift, snowman, bell, stocking and gingerbread person. Easy enough for 3-year-olds, and the lines are good pencil practice.
Christmas word search (page 8)
Ten Christmas words hidden across or down: TREE, STAR, SNOW, GIFT, BELL, ELF, SANTA, SLED, COCOA and MITTEN. No diagonal or backward words, so first readers aged 6 to 8 can finish it.
Letter to Santa (page 9)
Prompts that go beyond a wish list: “This year I was kind when I…”, “I helped my family by…” and “Something for someone else.” There is a box to draw the wish for kids who are not writing yet.
Christmas activity sheets by age
- Ages 3 to 4: count and write, finish the pattern and match the pictures. Most 3-year-olds can draw a circle when you show them how (CDC milestones), which is all the drawing these pages need. A grown-up can write the numbers they say.
- Ages 5 to 6: I spy and count, the maze and the dot-to-dot. Color each picture when it’s done.
- Ages 6 to 8: the word search and the letter to Santa, plus the dot-to-dot for younger siblings to try with their help.
SaveWays to use these Christmas worksheets for kids
- Christmas Eve or the morning wait: a stack of pages buys calm minutes while the turkey roasts.
- Travel busy bag: pages, a few crayons and a clipboard in a zip bag for the car or the plane.
- Restaurants and family gatherings: a page each for the kids’ table.
- Class party: print the word search and maze for a quiet station between games.
- Play them again: slide pages into clear sheet protectors and use dry-erase markers.
SavePrinting tips
- Print on US Letter paper with “Fit to page” turned on. A4 works too, with slightly wider margins.
- All pages are line art, so black-and-white printing is fine and saves ink.
- Print the letter to Santa on cardstock if it is going in the mail or the memory box.
